ORCA House

A residential treatment facility for adults age 18 or older who have a diagnosed, serious mental illness or substance use disorder.

ORCA House is now located in a fully renovated facility at Prospect & E. 30th in Cleveland.

Mental Health Residential Treatment

At ORCA House, one floor operates as a 16-bed, short-term mental health residential facility, serving adults who require a higher level of step-down care after being discharged from a crisis stabilization unit or inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. It’s also available for step-up care for adults referred for a higher level of monitored residential treatment.

With an expected length of stay of 30-90 days, the goal is to provide a positive, structured, caring, home-like environment conducive to the stabilization of symptoms, individual growth and development, and an effective transition back into the community. Services include:

  • Individual and group mental health counseling with an emphasis on Mental Health Day Treatment groups
  • Behavioral health assessments
  • Case management
  • Peer support
  • Psychiatry
  • Nursing
  • A primary care provider assesses residents upon admission. Follow-up primary care and infectious disease care is available as needed.

Substance Use Disorder Residential Treatment

The facility also anticipates the future opening of a 20-bed unit aimed at treating individuals with opioid use disorder or alcohol use disorder, with an emphasis on intensive group therapy and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). This unit also will provide ongoing medical care for residents discharged from the hospital who have co-occurring substance use disorder and endocarditis, which is a potentially fatal inflammation of the heart valves.
