Getting Started: What to Expect as a New Patient
Your first step to accessing mental health or addiction recovery services is a Diagnostic Assessment (DA). This is a conversation with a counselor to understand your needs and connect you with the right care.
- Takes about 60 minutes
- You’ll talk with a counselor about your health, needs, and goals
- You can complete this in person or by video
What happens after:
- The counselor will talk you through the next steps
- This may include ongoing therapy, case management, primary care, medication support, or other services
- Your care plan will be based on what works best for you
It’s okay if you’re not sure what you need. A diagnostic assessment is a starting point, and we’ll guide you from there.
Getting Care Today: What to Expect for Drop-Ins
In-Person Drop-In (Mental Health & Addiction Recovery)
- You may meet with a counselor by video, even if you come into a health center
- If a counselor isn’t available on-site, we’ll connect you with one from another location
- Our team will guide you through the process when you arrive
Primary Care Drop-In
- After you check in, a nurse will meet with you within about 30 minutes
- After your nurse visit, we’ll explain your next steps
-
If you need to see a provider, there may be a longer wait as we balance both scheduled visits and drop‑in care
Online Drop-In
- Make sure your device has a charge long enough for 60 minutes, or be near a plug with a charger
- If you get disconnected, the DA counselor will attempt to reconnect
